Pranic Healing and stress: how to find calm when life never slows down

Expert article by Nicky Thompson, Registered Pranic Therapist

Stress is not a small problem. In 2024/25, an estimated 964,000 workers in Britain reported work-related stress, depression or anxiety, and 22.1 million working days were lost to it, according to the Health and Safety Executive. That is more than half of all working days lost to ill health and injury combined. Money worries, relationships and the daily pile of demands add to that load.

I am a registered Pranic Therapist, and I use Pranic Healing to help people with stress. Here is how it works, and how it might help you.

Why is stress so hard to switch off?

Ongoing stress does not stay in your head. It can leave you physically tired, mentally scattered and emotionally flat, and it can colour your mood, your behaviour and your relationships. Many of my clients describe feeling overwhelmed and stuck long before they ask for help.

The cause is often something you cannot see. Can you see a thought? Can you see an emotion? Neither is visible, yet both shape how you feel and respond to everyday situations.

What is Pranic Healing?

Pranic Healing is a gentle, non-touch energy therapy. The body can heal itself, and this is the fundamental principle that Pranic Healing is based on. This advanced, non-touch energy therapy enhances and accelerates the body’s natural healing process. It can be applied both preventatively and restoratively to support physical health and emotional well-being.

I trained with the Institute of Pranic Healing UK and Ireland and became a registered therapist after Pranic Healing changed my own approach to my health. I had expected something smaller than what I experienced, and that is why I now offer it to others.

How does Pranic Healing approach stress?

In Pranic Healing, stress and anxiety are understood as energy that builds up over time. Practitioners believe this accumulated energy can affect mood, behaviour, relationships and productivity.

Treatment uses specific techniques to clear that stress energy. Clients often tell me they feel more like themselves afterwards, with a calmer body and a quieter mind.

What is Twin Hearts Meditation?

Alongside individual sessions, I run Twin Hearts Meditation. It is a guided meditation practised around the world, and small studies have looked at its effects on stress and wellbeing. It gives you a set period to put down the day, quieten your thoughts and sit in stillness.

You do not need any experience to take part.

Why taking time for yourself matters

Pausing is not indulgent. A regular space to relax and refocus, whether through a treatment or a meditation, can leave you feeling calmer, clearer and better able to handle the week ahead.
