New Minor Injury and Illness Unit opens at The Wilmslow Hospital

Juggling work, family and everyday life leaves little time for health worries – so quick access to healthcare can make all the difference. The Minor Injury and Illness Unit at The Wilmslow Hospital is now open, offering same‑day appointments for adults and children aged three and over.

Open Monday to Friday from 8am to 8pm, the unit offers quick access to expert clinical assessment without the long waits often associated with emergency departments. One patient commented, “I came in without an appointment and was seen straight away”.

The service treats a wide range of non‑life‑threatening injuries and illnesses, including sprains and strains, sports injuries, minor burns and wounds, and suspected broken bones – common concerns for active families and working professionals alike.

Patients are seen by experienced Advanced Clinical Practitioners (ACPs), with on‑site diagnostics such as X‑rays, ultrasounds and bladder scans available where needed, helping to streamline care and reduce the need for multiple appointments.

The Minor Injury and Illness Unit is not intended to replace A&E. Anyone experiencing symptoms that may indicate a serious or life‑threatening condition, such as chest pain or signs of stroke, should call 999 or attend their nearest emergency department.

The service operates on a self‑pay basis, with an initial appointment costing £120, payable at the time of the visit. If further treatment is required, patients can be quickly referred to consultants across a wide range of specialties at The Wilmslow Hospital, with options to self‑fund or seek insurance pre‑authorisation.

The new unit has already proven to be a popular addition to the Wilmslow high street and local community, and we have no doubt that it will continue to be a valuable service throughout the upcoming active summer months.

Appointments can be booked by phone on 01625 545 094.
The unit is located at 52–54 Alderley Road, Wilmslow, SK9 1NY.

Free on‑site parking is available.
